The Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning

The Dark Highlander (Highlander, #5) The Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Journey to a world of ancient magic, breathtaking sensuality, thrilling time-travel... Journey to the world of The Dark Highlander. Crisscrossing the continents and the centuries, here is a novel as gripping as it is sensual—an electrifying adventure that will leave you breathless...

I am Dageus MacKeltar, a man with one good conscience and thirteen bad ones, driven to sate my darkest desires...From his penthouse lair high above Manhattan, Dageus looks out over a glittering city that calls to the darkness within him. A sixteenth century Scot trapped between worlds, he is fighting a losing battle with the thirteen Druids who possess his soul, dooming him to an eternity of sexual pursuit. When Chloe Zanders, student of antiquities, is drawn into his world, she finds the insatiable Alpha male an irresistible lure.

Before long, she is caught up in an ancient prophecy that will sweep her back in time to medieval Scotland. Plunged into a world of timeless magic and dark seduction, she will soon face the challenge of a lifetime: fighting thirteen evil spirits for the heart of one irresistible man...

My thoughts:
The Dark Highlander is the 5th installment in the highly addicitve Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning. The Dark Highlander picks
up shortly after the events in The Kiss of the Highlander, which ended with a note from Drustan's father telling him
he has to kill his now cursed brother.

Chloe Zanders is a student of antiquities, and is less than pleased when her boss asks
her to deliver a priceless artifact to an unknown man. She doesn't like that because he donated some beautiful artifacts
himself that he should get to borrow another one. (Who knows what he'll do to it? Probably put sticky finger prints all over
it.) And in deleivering the package she eventually meets Dageus, the tall, dark and sexy Druid who happens to be from the
16th Century. Although there first meeting doesn't seem to be ordinary, it doens't stop the contant attracting between both
and although Dageus feels he is no good for Chleo (being innocent and sweet) he cannot stop thinking and obbsessing with her. Chloe and Dageus are a perfect match, even if it takes them some time to notice. And if the constant attraction isn't enough, it's the least of Dageus's problems considering he is cursed with 13 evil spirits fighting for control over his soul and with each passing day he finds himself gettin darker and darker. If he doesn't find a way to break the curse he may never get to live the life he now knows he can have.

I found myself really liking Dageus. At first I thought he wouldn't come close to Drustan(his twin brother).. but he's not bad himself. ;) Although Dageus is a great character, I find we see more of Drustan's personilty and because of that it makes me more attached to him.
The Dark Highlander has lots of action and romance with enough twists to keep you on your toes. Since I was already a huge fan of Moning's Fever series I thought I'd check out her Highlander series, and after reading
Kiss of the Highlander I had to keep reading. I'm offically addicited!
