First Drop Of Crimson by Jeaniene Frost

First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) First Drop of Crimson by Jeaniene Frost

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Synopsis:

The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows – her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield – and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family’s past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness – and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who craves a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human – even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the demon nightmare together…

My thoughts:

Another winner from Frost!
FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON is the first installment in the awesome new Night Huntress World series by Jeaniene Frost. Like her Night Huntress series, I was immediately drawn into the story and hooked on the characters. If you've read Frost's Night Huntress series you know how addictive it can be AND how amazingly written it is. I never thought I'd love another but Bones.. but WOW..Watch out Bones, Shade is in the house! ;)

Denise is still coping with the loss of her husband a year ago. Ever since she was introduced to the paranormal world, her world has been turned upside down.
This story starts out with Cat's best friend Denise and her cousin discussing how their family member died of a heart attacked when she was only 23. When she was in perfect good health. Denise's cousin refuses to believe her heart merely stopped, but was caused something more..unnatural.
After yet another family member's 'heart stops'(while she obviously see different) Denise starts to realize something is up.

When Cat and Bones are out of reach for her help, she is left with Spade and his intense presence. Off the bat, Denise is in danger. She doesn't realize what she's up against. They are used to vampires and ghouls, but what they get isn't even close. Not to mention the tension between both Denise and Spade, which is all together different than the danger she's in.

Don't forget how hot Frost can make a scene. And the relationship between Denise and Spade is diffidently that. It's a forbidden kind of love that makes you begging for more. I honestly didn't want it to end. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. Which is going to be featuring Mencheres, the powerful handsome Egyptian sire of Spade. I'm very excited to see what's in store with him. I also really hope she makes a story for Vlad. He's one of my favorites in the series as well.

So, that being said.. Don't miss this book! It's worth every penny and more.
