I’d have been a lot more appreciative if he hadn’t pushed me first." Cassandra Palmer ― Hunt the Moon by Karen Chance

Opening sentence: "Poe, you wiener, get your ass over here!"

Synopsis:
Blood is thicker than ink.
There is a reason we fear the night…
As Savannah's most unconventional tattoo artist, Riley Poe is quite familiar with the local underground scene. She lives and works on the edge of it every day.
Now, she's about to step over the edge.
When her younger brother is taken by a sinister cult led by centuries-old vampires, Riley discovers a world of shadows and blood--and those who exist there.
Her ally is the hot-tempered vampire Eli Dupre, who is attracted both to Riley's beauty as well as her one-of-a-kind blood type. A blood type he is not alone in craving.
To save her brother from certain un-death, Riley will face dangers she's never dreamed of, ruthless bloodthirsty enemies, and an evil of endless hunger that wants to devour all in its vile grasp.

Meet Eli and Riley here.

My Thoughts:
Afterlight is author, Elle Jaspers debut novel. Afterlight is the first novel in the Dark Ink Chronicles and I received an ARC copy from Ms Jasper herself.  Just looking at it, I knew I would love it. The cover art is beautiful, very eye catching. I read this book in only a few hours, and one word that comes to mind is, "refreshing". I also received some pretty bookmarks to go along with the book witch was pretty neat. *thumbs up to Ms Jasper*

Riley Poe is a smart, talented heroine. I liked her character from the first page. If you want a original heroine, Riley Poe is your gal. A hot tattoo artist, filled with tattoos, black and purple hair, owns her own tattoos shop, she's not exactly your usual protagonist.
She's a big sister, who raised her brother Seth, since she was young, with only the help of her two Gullah grandparents. She owes everything to those two, and loves them deeply.
But they have a secret. One that makes Riley's life turn a 180.
A family shows up. They're different, more excotic. Quicker than eye can see, and they seem to know what she's thinking. What are these people? One word changes everything. Vampire.

Eligius, the familys oldest son is mysterious. Riley can't stop thinking about him, his blue gleaming eyes, and his deep voice. He seems to have taken an interest in her as well, but his temper is going to cost him. All the characters in this novel are well written and very likable. I want to have friends like the Arcoses. Especially Phin, Eli's younger brother. I LOL'd at him many times throughout the book.

Eli is a new favorite hunk for me. Why is it everytime I read a book I fall inlove with yet another male? Eli is something else. He's tall, dark, and handsome, with a hot temper and a very protective side. I want more of him, now.

I cannot wait to read Everdark. Elle Jasper really knows how to tease a gal. I love how Ms Jasper has made the vampire bite leathal for humans. One drink and they cannot stop. No sexy sips in this book. LOL. Elle Jasper has really made a excellent world that is a mirror of ours with the exception of the hidden darkness..

This one sounds fantastic. I adore the whole loving older sis thing. I've had to take care of my sister for years when my parents were absent. Can you imagine and 19 yo, married, with a daughter, living on our own and having to care for a 9 yo. Anywho, I love when I can relate to a character or storyline even if it's just a smidgen.

Oh and Eligius..... he sounds like a character I would definitely swoon over!!!
