My Rating:
-Frigging Amazing! Why did it have to end?!

Synopsis:
In the last installment of the Downside series, Chess had a lot of problems brewing.  Terrible not only nearly died, but also isn’t exactly on speaking terms with her.  Now, with that broken relationship hurting her heart, Chess has to work one on one with Lauren, a member of the Black Squad and the Grand Elder’s daughter, to pursue the growing threat against the church: the Lamaru.  It’s hard enough to work with Lauren, but it’s complicated further because operating in Downside without Terrible is a whole different world and, as always, Bump wants something from Chess…

My Thoughts:
City Of Ghosts is the third novel in the Downside Ghosts series by Stacia Kane. As you may know, I recently interviewed Mrs Kane, and read book one in this series, "Unholy Ghosts" and was extremely excited with it's outcome. Unholy ghosts was another number one for me. It was a great start to a promising series, and City Of Ghosts is just as good as book one, if not better.

Each book in this series keeps getting better, it's hard to believe it since they are soo good, but they really do. Throughout the series there's been ups and downs with Chess and Terrible.(whom I LOVE) This book isn't much different. Things are still hard for Chess, she gets the cold shoulder from Terrible, and that's not half as bad as when he actually pays attention to her. Chess is heartbroken, beat and still has a crime to solve. This time around she's working with the police section of "The Church of Truth", who call themselves "The Black Squad". Chess is placed under a strict binding spell that if spoken of will cause her imeadiaite pain and even death. Bump, Chess's drug dealer and crime lord wants to know everything she does. Nothing comes easy for Chess, especially as of late. Chess is still deep into drugs, and this time around she hits an all time low.

City of Ghosts isn't just a great Urban Fantasy, it's an amazing, heart wrenching romance. Chess believes shes shes worthless, and anything bad or low said of her by Terrible, is true. Terrible is a male, who cannot speak of his feelings. He lashes out at Chess, because it's the only way he knows how to deal with his pain. Like I said in the review of Unholy Ghosts, I love both Chess and Terrible, they are my new favorite couple, especially Terrible.

What I didn't mention in my past review is the lanuage of the Downside. It's completely orignal, and quirky, and down right enjoyable.

Mrs Kane has created a dark, interesting world that sucks you in and won't let you out. I read all three books in two days, and now I'm left begging for book four. I need to know what happens next, I need to know NOW! For all you, "I guess I'll put this book on my TBR pile..." I want to tell you, this should be pushed to the top of your TBR pile. Actually you should stop reading this review and head over to your local book store or order a copy right now. You won't regret it.
