Current Reading Mood: Urban Fantasy
Quote of the day: “I’d have been dead a long time ago if not for my friends, one of whom had just jumped off the cliff after me.
I’d have been a lot more appreciative if he hadn’t pushed me first." Cassandra Palmer ― Hunt the Moon by Karen Chance

Book Blogger Hop- January 20th

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy For Books.

This week's question is:

"Why do you read the genre that you do?  What draws you to it?"

This is a great question! As for why do I read the genre I do, that's a bit complicated, considering I read almost ever genre, often. Okay, I mostly read Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance and Horror, but I also read a good amount of Science Fiction, Chick-Lit, Young Adult, Mystery, Historical Romance and regular Fiction.

I read Urban Fantasy for many reasons. First, it draws my attention, I usually love most Urban Fantasy storyline's, they're gripping and catchy.  The reason I love UF is because it gives you impression that something else is out there in our world. Our world is our own mostly, but with many more hidden paranormal secrets.  *Shrugs* I like the idea, and it almost always grabs my attention.

I read Paranormal Romance for almost the same reason as UF, but I'm usually in a mood for more romance in the theme. PR and UF are often close as a genre.

I love Chick-Lit for a lighter read. Young Adult is something I love, when I'm in the mood to remember being a teenager(which wasn't too long ago), but I find many YA novels are becoming more and more mature, and I enjoy them, but don't agree with some stuff in them for actual YA's. I guess the times... they are a`changing! lol I enjoy mystery for the titillating feeling of "Who did it!?!?" and trying to figure out who the "bad guy" is. Last but not least, I love horror. Horror is the genre I've read the longest. I love spooky, creepy, body shaking books and movies. When I write, it tends to be in the Horror Genre. (Guest post about that HERE) So Horror is a comfort zone for me.

As for every other genre, I read them when I'm in the mood, and more times than often enjoy them. I believe you need to keep yourself on your toes with new genres and concepts, so you won't get bored and won't feel mind scrambled with characters who are so alike! Don't you hate when you think back about a book, and think.."Was that her?" "Which book was she in?" I feel that sometimes when I read too many UF novels close together, they tend to mold together. But when I take a break I go back and everything's fine again! lol

...Time to go read!

I used to read book reviews before actually reading the book, and found that it kinda ruins the book for me, and often times I don't even buy books that I've read reviews for. So, do you ever read the book reviews.thanks
