Meet Arcadia Bell: bartender, renegade magician, fugitive from the law. . . .

Being the spawn of two infamous occultists (and alleged murderers) isn’t easy, but freewheeling magician Arcadia “Cady” Bell knows how to make the best of a crummy situation. After hiding out for seven years, she’s carved an incognito niche for herself slinging drinks at the demon-friendly Tambuku Tiki Lounge.

But she receives an ultimatum when unexpected surveillance footage of her notorious parents surfaces: either prove their innocence or surrender herself. Unfortunately, the only witness to the crimes was an elusive Æthyric demon, and Cady has no idea how to find it. She teams up with Lon Butler, an enigmatic demonologist with a special talent for sexual spells and an arcane library of priceless stolen grimoires. Their research soon escalates into a storm of conflict involving missing police evidence, the decadent Hellfire Club, a ruthless bounty hunter, and a powerful occult society that operates way outside the law. If Cady can’t clear her family name soon, she’ll be forced to sacrifice her own life . . . and no amount of running will save her this time.

This is the first installment in the 'Arcadia Bell' series by Jenn Bennett and what a book it was!
I was bored and happened to stumble upon this novel a few days ago. Once I opened it, I was hooked.

Arcadia (Cady) is a magician with a past. She's the daughter of the notorious eledged serial killers, Enola and Alexander Duval and has been hiding out for seven years to forget her past life. But the past always come back. And this time it's back to bite her in the a**.

I was in a Urban Fantasy rutt as of late. I couldn't seem to choose a book I wanted to read, until now. This novel hauled me out of that rut and now I'm ready for more.

The storline, action scenes, twists and horror are fantasic in this novel, but what really pulled me in, were the characters.
Arcadia is a tough chick that can kick butt. She has powers to back her up and make her do really neat things, she's funny and smart, but what I liked, was learning she has a softer side. She's a great package.

Lon. Lon. Lon. Were you created to tease us? Or are you really out there? Lon is a stand up character. He's a real man and acts like it. I love his serious outer shell, but it's fun to see his playful side.
I can't forget he's also a looker. A mature male, whose is strong and toned like a real hard working man. Oh, I almost forgot, he's also a Demon. Believe it or not, it's easy to forget that he is, in fact a demon. Until he transmutates and has horns, even still, he's pretty awesome.

My favorite character, hands down is Lon's son, Jupe. He's thirteen and full of enegry. He's a riot to read and add something to the story, that would be lost without him. Most great stories have a memorable side-kick or pet, Jupe takes the prize. He's in my top five favorite side characters. I can't wait to read more of him!

I have to say, the romance in this novel was genuine. I really believed their feelings towards each other. They didn't act like slobbering teenagers, or act completely different when they were together. They were themselves and I loved it. I think it may be one of my favorite build ups in a relationship. I wan more Cady and Lon, and I want it now!

I HIGHLY recommed this novel to Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romance lovers. It's one you don't want to miss!
