Synopsis:The homicide beat in Louisiana isn't just terrifying, it's demonic. Detective Kara Gilligan of the supernatural task force has the ability to summon demons to her aid, but she herself is pledged to serve a demonic lord. And now, people who've hurt Kara in the past are dropping dead for no apparent reason. To clear her name and save both the demon and human worlds, she's in a race against the clock and in a battle for her life that just may take her to hell and back.
Review:
I know already that not all my sentences are going to make sense. I'm literately vibrating with excitement, confusion, anger and sorrow. I'm excited with how fantastic this book was, confused with where the turn of events will take us, angry that it ended and sad that I have to wait a full year to find out what's to come. I mean, come on..I love a good cliffhanger, but that was just mean. Brilliant. But mean.
Okay, I'll try to make a somewhat normal review, although all I want to do is rant and rave. I'll try to tone it down, even for just a moment.
I'll also try not to give too many spoilers away, but no promises. All I can promise is that if it's a serious spoiler, I'll warn you.
Poor Kara. She's had a tough go this past year. She may be protected by her syraza/"roommate", but something big has in it for Kara and they'll try anything to get her.
I LOVED Kara's demon bodyguard, Eilahn. She was a hoot. The scenes with her and the cat were hilarious. Who'd a thought a demon could be so... normal?
*Highlight to read spoiler*
Although this installment was more about Kara and who's gunning for her, I was disappointed there was only one scene with Rhyzkahl. Right when they seem to bond a bit closer, he's pushed aside for the action. *grins* Okay, so the action is great, but maybe we could slip a small scene in here and there. Is that too much to ask? *laughs*
So I have many conflicting thoughts on both Kara and Ryan's relationship and Kara and Rhyzkahl's, but how about those ending lines with Kara and Ryan? That's plot changing lines right there. I'm not sure if I'm excited, or disappointed it wasn't Rhyzkahl. *throws hands up* I'm so conflicted, but none the less it was a fantastic novel. It keeps me guessing and had me on edge. This series keeps getting better with each book. I' begging for the next release... Is it available for pre-order yet?...
