Review: Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage by Jennifer Ashley

Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage by Jennifer Ashley
Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage (Highland Pleasures, #2)
         1/2
This book is one you don`t want to miss!

Synopsis:Six years ago, eighteen-year-old Lady Isabella Scranton scandalized all of London by eloping the night of her come-out ball with the notorious rake, Lord Mac Mackenzie. After three turbulent years of marriage, she scandalized London once again—this time by leaving him.

Now the reformed Mac has returned, and he wants one thing: Isabella back in his life, his house, his bed. He'll do anything he has to, play any game, as long as he gets her back. Isabella resists, but when she agrees to pose for erotic paintings he's been working on, she realizes her body has never stopped craving her husband’s very skilled touch. Mac is determined to show Isabella that he's a changed man, but three years without her has only increased his hunger for her.

When an ingenious forger with designs on Mac's paintings, and Isabella herself, comes dangerously near, Mac sets himself up as Isabella’s protector and vows to never leave her side, whether his independent and proud lady likes it or not.

Review:
What a beautiful story! This is my second novel by Jennifer Ashley and I can see her rising to be one of my top five historical romance authors. Her work is interesting, touching and filled with excellent characters. I was shocked I haven't picked up a novel by her before lately, she's right up my alley.

I first read Highland Pleasures, #1, which is called THE MADNESS OF LORD IAN MACKENZIE and I feel in love with all the characters, main and secondary. I couldn't wait to read Mac's story. He was mysterious and broody and in dire need of attention. I didn't just love Mac alone, I really enjoyed Isabella's character. She was a good friend to Beth and had a great spirit, I knew I'd love to read along with.

That being said, this story was a heartthrob. It had me laughing, crying and feeling every other emotion that was being described from the characters. Isabella may have been a bit harsh on Mac in some circumstances, but she did have her reasons for just distrust. Mac wasn't the only one to feel heart break, that's for sure.

I also really liked that it wasn't the story of a couple that feel in love at first sight and then lived happily ever after. This was the story of quick to love and sadly quick to hurt. Both of the characters learned not just to love for passion, but to love each other for their faults. The learned to love each other al over again and although it wouldn't be easy, or quick.. it would be for life.

Like I said after reading the first novel in this series, I highly recommend this series to historical romance lovers. This is one for the shelves!
