Quote of the day: “I’d have been dead a long time ago if not for my friends, one of whom had just jumped off the cliff after me.
I’d have been a lot more appreciative if he hadn’t pushed me first." Cassandra Palmer ― Hunt the Moon by Karen Chance

Happy 108th Birthday Theodor Seuss Geisel! (Dr. Seuss)

Image Detail
So, today is a very special day for book lovers. I can guarantee almost all of you have read a Dr. Seuss book as a child. I'm proud to say my mother was a avid reader of Dr. Seuss as I was a child. I had a few favorites; Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish, Fox in Socks, Horton Hears a Who, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas..etc. I can't tell you how much Dr. Seuss has influenced me and my story telling. For years, before I wrote spookier, thrilling short stories, I loved to rhyme and be silly.
When I think of rhyming and silliness, my thoughts jump to Dr. Seuss.

Today would have been Dr. Seuss's 109th birthday!

Here's a little bit on Dr. Seuss from Wikipedia:Theodor Seuss Geisel (play /ˈɡzəl/; March 2, 1904 – September 24, 1991) was an American writerpoet, and cartoonist most widely known for hischildren's books written under the pen names Dr. SeussTheo LeSieg and, in one case, Rosetta Stone.[2]He published 46 children's books, which were often characterized by imaginative characters, rhyme, and frequent use of trisyllabic meter. His most celebrated books include the bestselling Green Eggs and HamThe Cat in the HatOne Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue FishHorton Hatches the Egg,Horton Hears a Who!, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. Numerous adaptations of his work have been created, including 11 television specials, four feature films, a Broadway musical and four television series. He won the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award in 1958 for Horton Hatches the Egg and again in 1961 forAnd to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street.Geisel also worked as an illustrator for advertising campaigns, most notably for Flit and Standard Oil, and as a political cartoonist for PM, a New York City newspaper. During World War II, he worked in an animation department of the U.S Army, where he wrote Design for Death, a film that later won the 1947Academy Award for Documentary Feature.Geisel's birthday, March 2, has been adopted as the annual date for National Read Across America Day, an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association.

I'll leave you with this...
