Quote of the day: “I’d have been dead a long time ago if not for my friends, one of whom had just jumped off the cliff after me.
I’d have been a lot more appreciative if he hadn’t pushed me first." Cassandra Palmer ― Hunt the Moon by Karen Chance

Canada Day Weekend was a blast! (photos) + Movie/Book talk & Giveaways!

Hello my fellow book lovers. Most of you show up here for the books, but I thought I'd do a post on what's been going on this Summer so far..Bike travels, Swimming, good movies and of course good books. For those of you who only come for the books, scroll down to check out what's up next for my blog and to enter a giveaway! It ends soon, so don't miss out! For those of you who want to get to know the blogger behind the posts a bit more, then read on...

I'll start with Canada Day weekend. What a fun time that was. I'm proud to say I live in one of the most beautiful spots in the world. Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Cape Breton Island has been voted one of the world's best islands to visit in Travel and Leisure magazine's 2011 World's Best Awards.
It was ranked the number one island destination in Canada and continental United States, and number three on the list of Top Ten Islands Overall. Readers of the travel publication voted Cape Breton ahead of such popular destinations as the Great Barrier Reef Islands and Sicily.
This is the third time the island has been awarded the number one honour. It beat out Vancouver Island and Nantucket this year for the top spot. "

Anyways, as I was saying, Canada day was spent in Ingonish, which is along the Cabot Trail. (About a two hour drive from my home) We camped on a beach with friends and this beach was spectacular! Sand far as the eye can see and surrounded by beautiful mountains. I'm so glad to have such a beautiful spot so close to home. (All photos are taken by Danny and Myself, unless stated otherwise.)

Check out this view!

For some reason I forgot to take a photo of the other side of the beach, which goes on forever!

One of my usual and favorite stops along the Cabot Trail is Mary Ann Falls. Fresh water, beautiful sights and a heck of a time. *grins* I didn't swim this time because I wasn't prepared with a bathing suit, but Danny was and he had a blast! I got some great shots of him and the waterfall.
Check these out!
The walkway to Mary Ann Falls. Going back up is much harder than you'd think. I got my workout in that day. *laughs*

The stream after the falls. So pretty!
One part of the falls..and if you look at the top you'll see Danny waving! Hi Danny!
Danny swimming in another, higher part of the falls.

Next, it was time to eat and did we ever hit the jackpot with our restaurant. Coastal Restaurant is located in Ingonish and I HIGHLY recommend you stop there if you ever get the chance. I'm not exaggerating when I say I had the best burger in the world. (IMO) It's called "The Ringer" and it was featured on The Food Network a few months back. Check out the episode here. (I'm not paid to advertise, I just LOVE this place and their food!

Moi, waiting for "The Ringer!"
Weeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllll worth the wait. A Whole lotta mess, a whole lotta love. You won't find a better burger and if you do, tell me..I'll neeed to try it!
I can't explain the sauce that it's dripping with, but it almost tastes like BBQ sauce, Mayo and Gravy..either way..it's amazing.

I added pickles!
Danny also enjoyed his burger meal. It was also featured on "You Gotta Eat Here!" He admits that although his was awesome, mine was even better!

Money well spent! I'm a bit glad it's about a two hour ride from home though, if not I'd be there everyday and I'd pack on the pounds like it's Christmas day everyday. *grins*

Then it was time for home, but the beauty went on.
About an hour away from home..

A beautiful end to a beautiful weekend!

What did you do for Canada Day/The 4th of July!?

So far this month I haven't seen any movies in the theatres, but I plan on watching The Three Stooges once it's released on DVD! My friends and I are going to see Magic Mike, of course. It probably won't be Oscar winning acting, but why lie, we're all going for the men!

Most importantly is the book releases!

Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews
Precinct 13 by Tate Hallaway
