Welcome Eileen! It's good to have you back again this year!

Thank you so much. It’s great to be back.

Summer's coming to an end, regretfully. Did you do anything exciting?

Well, in May I got to rent a house in Ireland for three weeks. It was soul-saving; just me, the birds, the wind and the waves. And then I came home and worked on a hot deadline.

I'm a lover of fall and can't wait to do some sight seeing while the leaves are changing color. Do you have any plans for this fall?

Besides working on my next Drake’s Rake book, I’m making my first visit to the Teton Mountains(and there are no leaves like aspen leaves as they turn). It’s been on my bucket list since I was a kid. There is just something about those mountains that calls to me…okay, it’s something about any mountain that calls to me. Mountains, oceans, ruins, historic buildings, new people….I admit it. I have the wonderlust. It’s a genetic Irish problem. So anyway, we’re renting a house in Jackson Hole and visiting both the Tetons and Yellowstone, which is another place I’ve never gotten to see. I can’t wait.

IT BEGINS WITH A KISS was released in July. Is this your first novella?

As a matter of fact, no. As Kathleen Korbel I wrote two novellas for Harlequin. One was The Road to Mandalay. I was lucky enough to be in a Summer Sizzler with Nora Roberts. The other, in an old Shadows anthology(Silhouette’s precursor to Nocturnes), a time-traveling story entitled, appropriately enough, Timeless.

I absolutely LOVE the cover of IT BEGINS WITH A KISS. Was it done by the same cover designer as your previous covers?

Yes. Aren’t my covers spectacular? I have to say that in the course of over twenty  years, I have never been more delighted than I am with Grand Central Forever. Their art department has been brilliant.

Last time you were here you said you planned on 6 more Rake's stories. Is the plan still for 6 more?

Why, yes. I have a bad habit of getting into a book and realizing that there should be a few more. This time I realized that every one of the Rakes deserved his own story. Well, there are ten rakes, but Chuffy absolutely refused to have a book of his own. So he is sharing. To keep things tidy(I’m one of those readers who can’t read a book until I have every book in the series), I’m dividing the series into three trilogies, separated by heroines. The first was The Three Graces. This next trilogy will be Last Chance Academy, because the heroines all went to school together. Like Graces, they will have enough closure that you won’t have to wait to book nine to read them. But oh, that last trilogy. Of course the ninth book will be Drake’s, and believe me when I tell you. It’s a beaut. I wrap absolutely everything up then.
-That sounds awesome! I can't wait!

You also just re-released your e-book suspense's. Are they going to be released with the same covers?

No, we have wonderful new covers that we’re rolling out this summer. I’m really excited by them. I’m so psyched that I have my books back. I just love the fact that they’ll all be available again, especially the early ones that people might not have had a chance to read.

Are you currently reading anything drool worthy?

While I’m on deadline, I don’t read much. When I do, I pick up old Regency romances that I’ve already read. My favorite I’ve just reread is Barbara Metzger’s Miss Lockhart’s Letters. It is one of my absolutely favorite Regencies. When I finish, I have a pile of books sitting in my office as my carrot, including Joanne Bourne’s Black Hawke and Vicki Dreiling’s How to Seduce a Scoundrel

Besides writing and reading, what do you like to do with your spare time?

When I actually have it, I have become an avid gardener(well, not so much this summer of the intense heat). I adore theater, traveling, watching my St. Louis Cardinals play, did I mention traveling, and being a gramma.

What are you working on right now?

I’m just finishing Ian Ferguson’s story, working title Once a Rogue, in which he is rescued by the owner of a small, struggling estate on the south coast of England, who has secrets of her own. After Ian, I will write the book for Alex Knight and Chuffy Wilde, which involves Ian’s twin sisters. And then Beau Drummond, who is trying to hold Pippin Knight, Alex’s sister away as he searches for a murderer. You meet them all in It Begins with a Kiss four years before the action of Drake’s Rakes begins. I have really fallen in love with these new heroines.

Randomness:

Pepsi or Coke?  My daddy’s going to be mad(Pepsi was one of his best clients), but Coke

Summer, Fall, Winter or Spring? Spring. That moment when the earth is humming and the first shoots poke through the earth. Everything is still perfect and possible at that moment.

Comedy, Suspense, Tragedy or Horror? Different ones depending on my mood.

Dark or light chocolate? Don’t be silly. Dark. Not only is it delicious, but I can rationalize its goodness with the fact that it’s good for your heart.

Favorite alcoholic beverage?

Don’t laugh. Hendricks gin, tonic, a dill pickle spear, and 2 ice cubes. We were lucky enough to go to India a few years ago, birthplace of the G&T. Well, what was I to do but honor the tradition? The problem is that you can’t eat ice in India. So the G&T was poured straight. It’s a whole different drink. And I only enjoy a drink for the taste. So I got in a habit. And my husband brought the pickle angle back from, of all places, the Ukraine.

Did I pester you enough?

Heavens no. I always love answering your questions.

Thanks for stopping by again Eileen! You rock!

Again, thank you for inviting me. I always love stopping by. I hope everyone has a great rest of the year, and a good book in hand.
