Confessions of a Fashionista
By Skylar Blackwell
Fashion and personal style has the ability to inspire confidence, poise, and make us think that we can take on the world. I’m going to share my favorite fashion quotes and sayings from designers, actresses and inspiring women around the globe.
Pop cultural references in movies, books, and TV shows like The Devil Wears Prada, The Hills, Ugly Betty, Fashion Babylon, Guide to Style, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Sex in the City, and Project Runway are must-haves for fashionable girls like me. If loving fashion is a crime, I plead guilty!
Hope you guys enjoy this collection of quotes:
“One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress.” —Karl Lagerfeld
“Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.” —Gianni Versace
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye.” —Miss Piggy
“I never pass up the opportunity to show off my chic style regardless of impracticality or discomfort.” —Skylar Blackwell
“I like my money right where I can see it . . . hanging in my closet.” —Carrie Bradshaw
"Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman." —Coco Chanel
“Fashions fade, style is eternal.” —Yves Saint-Laurent
Be sure what you want and be sure about yourself. Fashion is not just beauty, it’s about good attitude. You have to believe in yourself and be strong. —Adriana Lima
I love vintage clothes stores in New York. Picking up clothes from different countries helps put an individual stamp on your style. —Victoria Beckham
“You are in your car an hour each day; you are in your clothes from morning till night. Spend accordingly.” —Esquire
"Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world." —Marilyn Monroe
“Shopping is my cardio.” —Carrie Bradshaw
“Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” —Coco Chanel
“The difference between style and fashion is quality.” —Giorgio Armani
“This... stuff'? Oh. Okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select... I don't know... that lumpy blue sweater, for instance because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. And you’re blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent... wasn't it who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it, uh, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room from a pile of stuff.” —Miranda Priestly

SCARY JUST GOT FASHIONABLE!
A devoted fashionata and practical New Yorker, Skylar Blackwell doesn’t believe in the supernatural—until she inherits Summerwind Mansion. . . .
When her uncle is brutally murdered, and the cops seem uninterested in following up the case, Skylar journeys to California to seek answers. Her search for clues is soon overshadowed by haunting nightmares of a young woman also murdered in the house.
Now the inhabitants of Summerwind are mysteriously dying, leaving no evidence as to how or why, and Skylar finds herself in a deadly race against time to discover who the killer is—before they strike again.
Armed with only wit and Pradas, Skylar begins questioning the servants, but the growing list of suspects includes the sexy and brooding caretaker, Dorian, a man desperately trying to forget his tragic past. And a major distraction for Skylar.
Determined to play detective—instead of the fashion police—and unravel the dark history of the mansion, Skylar is plunged into an otherworldly mystery that not even she can explain away. As the boundaries between reality and dreams blur, Skylar’s greatest challenge is to stay alive long enough to learn the truth.
